The Central Kentucky Fun Run

  • So a few posts ago, I may have bitched and moaned a bit about not enough people doing any serious riding here in Lexington.  I still feel the same way, even after meeting a few really amazing people to ride with, but I'm not just going to sit here and bitch about it.  I'm doing something about it.

My regular riding partner, Roger, and I have devised a plan, and it covers a few bases, if not all of them, that I whinge and moan about frequently.

We're starting a rally.  Here in Lexington.

So far, we have a date, the 30th of September, and a ride planned.  We're both broke sons of bitches, so there's no party (yet), no food (yet), no beer (yet), no concert (yet), no real event other than the plan to get as many people together as we can, take a big damn ride, and come back.  Maybe we'll hit a McDonalds?  I don't know.  We didn't give ourselves a lot of planning time, because the end of the riding season is coming quickly, so I think the most we can come up with is just get people together and ride, but it's a place to build from.

Kentucky, like any state, has no shortage of bike events, but Lexington specifically is strangely absent of any rallies, bike shows, or biker events that aren't directly tied to the local clubs (The Keghunters MCC and the Brothers Keepers MC both have their own events, some are open the public, some aren't) or the local HD dealership.  What we're hoping for for the Central Kentucky Fun Run (working title, probably be the Central Kentucky Bike Rally next year), is to grow into a proper rally.  Rides, bike shows, wet t-shirts, vendors, uncomfortable civilians, the whole nine.

So here's the link, www.cyclefish.com/event/18692/.  If you're in the area, please, come down and ride with us.  It's free, most of us aren't assholes (I can't speak for my ride partner), the route is beautiful, and you being there will help us build for next year.  I'll buy the beers for any Cyclefish members.  I'll be the young ugly one in the front of the pack.

**EDIT** OH!  And I almost forgot to mention.  I got my new bike!  A badass '02 sportster 883, stripped down and mean.  Check it out in my garage on my page!
