August 2011 Newsletter

  • Seems like it was just the other day when there was forum post after forum post from people wanting the cold weather to go away...Well it has and the heat has come on with a vengeance. I just read that for the first time ever in a single month at least one area in all 50 states had a record high temperature. Not that I'm complaining because to me any riding weather is great weather.

Even though summer is just about half over, we still have over 1,400 events listed in our Event Calendar for this year, and are adding new events everyday. Plus we're getting a lot of the info on the major 2012 events in the calendar so that you can start making plans for your major trips early!

    CycleFish Meet & Greets

We had two CycleFish Meet & Greets in July, and they both just happen to be the same weekend.

      Run 21
First was Run 21 in Birkenfield, Oregon put on by ABATE of Oregon. Jeff (HighRisk) & Denise (Deener) were kind enough to setup the CycleFish Camp. Jeff & Denise traveled to the event with John & Patty of American Custom Cycle of Buckley, WA - American Custom is a new advertiser and CycleFish Sponsor! According to Jeff about 2,000 attended the rally, the weather was perfect and the event was great! There were around 20 or so CycleFish members that either camped with Jeff and the crew or made it by at some point to meet the other CycleFish members. And for those who hadn't heard of CycleFish before the rally, Jeff and Denise made sure they had before they left. As Denise put temporary CycleFish on the girls, Jeff handed out business cards and even found a fine representitive to wear a CycleFish shirt in the wet t-shirt contest.

A big thank you to Jeff & Denise for being our CycleFish Ambassadors, and another big thank you to ABATE of Oregon for their hospitality!

    Run 21

That same weekend Laura & I attended Too Broke for Sturgis in Mormon Lake, AZ put on by ABATE of Arizona. We rode out on Thursday with Cheryl & Terry (wheels) and it was another great event with perfect weather. We set up the CycleFish Camp and had quite a few CycleFish members and fans stop by to say hi. We even had the chance to meet Mustang Sally, a CycleFish member who was vending at the event. On Friday we got in some riding through the beautiful canyons in the Sedona area. Friday afternoon we browsed the vendors and watched the games and contests. However Friday night didn't go all that well... right after we saw the Charlie Brechtel Band perform we went to bed and woke up on Saturday morning to the terrible news that there was a shooting at the event - three people were dead and one was critically wounded. Needless to say the remainder of the event was canceled and everyone needed to pack up and leave. Read more about the event here - Too Broke for Sturgis Recap

A big thank you to ABATE of Arizona for their hospitality!

    New CycleFish Business Sponsors

Ok, I for one am sick of all the products claiming "Made by Bikers, for Bikers" when most are nothing more than off the shelf products repackaged. But the bike and personal care products from Time Rider are uniquely designed products FOR BIKERS. They were kind enough to send me a selection of their products to try, and I have got to tell you I am impressed. All of the products I tried worked exactly as described, and they are packaged in perfect size for motorcycle travel. Check their products out, I know you too will be happy with them.
