Is it too late???

  • I've had a lot of time on my hands this summer, since I'm bikeless (for the moment, ok, a long moment), and I want to address something that I find disturbing to say the least.  I consider myself an observant person, and these are just my own personal observations. But it seems like we as a society, are becoming sincerely jaded.  So, much so, brought on no doubt by the current state of affairs with this country, that we have forgotten what we once used to hold dear.  And that is, love for one's country, love for our families, and love for our neighbors.  Albeit close neighbors, or friends mostly.  People are now turning on one another at an alarming rate.  Even close friendships, are being strained over petty jealousy's.  God forbid, I should have more than you, whether in your mind I've earned them or not.  And loyalty to this country, at the moment?  It's a joke.  The economy and subsequent failure's have even the most formerly patriotic, talking smack.  President Obama? It wouldn't matter what that man did, he was destined to fail. How could he not, surely you don't think the "good ole boy network" would let him succeed, in anything.  Not a black man, no way. Anything and everything that could go wrong or has gone wrong, will be blamed on him.  Whether he "inherited" the problems or not.  And then there are the families.  Most of us, of a certain generation, will remember the days when the family sitting down at the dinner table together, was mandatory.  Nothing else took priority.  As well as it should have been, because we all knew where we stood, and what was expected of and from us.  Not so anymore.  And that's the problem.  It seems as though, the only one's expecting anything, are the children of those who have forgotten just who's in charge.  Or supposed to be in charge, anyways. There's been a not-so-subtle shift in the balance of power, between Parent and child. It now seems the norm, for the kids to be running the parents.  Not in ALL cases, but in far too damn many.  And many of these "kids" are unemployed.  And not doing a lot about not being employed.  Using the economy, as an excuse for not finding and keeping a job.  For not getting a paycheck, paying taxes, or spending their earned money, to put back into the economy.  Instead, they are sponging off of their parents' income(s).  Do you see where this is going?  How can any of this country's woe's get any better, when we're allowing these things to happen?  I do know one thing for certain, if we don't get a handle on these things, and soon, we've only just begun to see a whole other country, than the one our founding father's had in mind. And then, God help us all.
