Where To Stay (at the Rally)

The Redwood Run is one of those great old school style biker rallies where the entire event happens in one single location.  The band, the parties, the vendors, and you living quarters are all right there on the property.  The camping at the Redwood Run Rally is GREAT. There are a number of individual campsites throughout the property depending on where you want to be and whether you want to be in the middle of the party or a nice quite spot to go "home" to.  You can be close to the vendors and stage, you can camp right on the river, which is directly behind the stage, or you can be a little more away from the action and camp at one of the sites up the hill closer to the main gate.  If you camp at the top ot the hill, you will most likely need to ride down to the vendor and concert area, there is plenty of parking. The Redwood Run Staff also provide shuttles from upper camp areas and the front gate to the main rally grounds where the vendors and stage are.

Where To Stay (the night before)

Since the Redwood Run is a first come, first serve for camping spots, if a good location is important to you you will want to stay close by the night before so you can get up early and get in line.  The two closest spots with lodging are Willits - to the South, and Garbeville - to the north.  Both of these towns sell out allof there rooms pretty early each year, so if you want a room you need to book well in advance.  We always stay at the Best Western in Willits.

As many of your are aware, especially if you have been to the Redwood Run, we are always there and in the same spot.  We can usually get a pretty good party going in the afternoons on the corner right outside our campsite.  So if you are going, make a point to stop by, say hi, and have a beer or two with us.

Or if you are in Willits the night before, stop by the Best Western and have a beer with us.  We will most likely be right outside are room with a big crowd.

Here's a map to help you find your way aroung the Rally grounds and to find our campsite.

Additional Information from the Official Redwood Run Site

It seems that every time a “smart person” makes a statement about life, they give you the “everything changes” line. This might work in the world of big cities, but in the backwoods of Northern California, the only thing different from one day to the next is the name of the day. WELCOME TO THE REDWOOD RUN!

This biker paradise is held on the second weekend of each June, at the Riverview Ranch in Piercy, California, about 200 miles north of the Golden Gate on Highway 101. It was once a dude ranch in the 1930’s operating until the freeway came through...remains of it can still be seen on campgrounds appropriately named “Chimney” and “Apple” flats.

If you are not familiar with it, the Redwood Run harkens back to days when bike runs were self-contained events. You rode your bike to it and set up camp with the stuff you carried on your bike.  One of the last remaining real “Old School” biker parties; attendance is limited to approximately 5300... making it pretty much a private party on private property. Any and all behavior is tolerated as long as it doesn’t violate  “community standards“.  And since this is private property; helmet laws aren’t enforced and security is provided by the MMA offering the crowd more freedom than is accustomed at casino or fairground rallies.

The first Redwood Runs were overnight cookouts attended by about 150, now over 30 years later it has grown to more than 5,000 bikers coming from all over the U.S. and abroad. Many visitors kick off their summer vacations at the Redwood Run and stay on after to enjoy the north coast hospitality. Due north near Orick, you’ll find a large herd of Roosevelt elk and just a turn off the freeway gets you to some of the most beautiful Pacific coastline. There are so many  beautiful rides that its impossible to do it all!

The Riverview Ranch offers 85 acres of scenic camping and hot showers.  Campgrounds are on various flats with oak and redwood trees for shade, some have breath-taking views and the river has numerous swimming holes. There on a terraced mountainside where the Eel River bends is a natural amphitheatre; the river runs behind the stage and there is a cliff on the other side. In front of the stage is the infamous pit, where the party action is.

The Run officially opens at 9 a.m. Friday, June 12, unofficially it starts a day or two before at numerous bars and watering holes in a dozen or so towns all over northern California. Over the years the Run has grown into a 100 -mile- long party that starts where the freeways end in places like Hopland and Upper Lake or Willits. You won’t find hotels or restaurants at this event, unless you drive into Garberville, about 12 miles away. However, what you will find is a celebration of raw lifestyle and what is left of a true biker experience.

Only carry-in items are allowed (no carry-in alcohol) and it bikes-and-tents inside the gates. Limited parking is available for trucks, cars and RV’s outside the gate. Luxurious Wine Country Tour busses provide a free shuttle down the hill to the “Pit” all weekend.

Mouth-watering food is cooked up and sold by assorted local non-profit organizations that range from Boosters Clubs to several volunteer fire departments and the beer is cold and cheap. The event is one of the largest fundraising events on the north coast and benefits programs from youth sports to senior and adult disabled programs. Many Kiwanis clubs get paid for various jobs and take money back to their communities to help children- the Kiwanis #1 priority.
The daylight hours are filled with riding out to nearby communities, touring the redwoods, and watching motorcycle games and the wet t- shirt contest.
As renowned as the Redwood Run is for its wet t-shirt contest, its even more famous for the stellar musical acts that headline the event every year. This year’s entertainment includes George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Los Lonely Boys, Santana and Journey founding member Gregg Rolie and Lita Ford and that’s just for starters. The entire line-up consists of 10 bands and music goes til about 2 am each night. Check out the Music page for more info.

The price of the entire weekend includes 2 night of music, camping with hot showers, BBQ dinner on Saturday, commemorative run pin, free shuttle, biker games, vintage and custom bike shows, wet t-shirt contest, vendors, tattoo artists, prizes and good ol‘ biker fun.
There are always surprises and different activities but the constant is always a blow out party on private property with lots of freedom to relax from work week responsibilities and inhibitions.
As  Easyriders concludes “ There is just so damn much fun and silliness going on at this rally and so many beautiful rides to go on that it’s impossible to do it all. So if ya feel like gettin’ lucky, then come on out this June, relax, and party with us at The Redwood Run.”
All makes of motorcylces are welcome and everyone 21 yrs and older is invited, bike or no bike. The ticket office can be reached at 707-247-3424.
