AUBURN, Indiana (Jan.17, 2012) – Auctions America by RM enjoyed a successful debut in Las Vegas this past weekend, selling more than $4.1 million* worth of vintage motorcycles, with an impressive 82 percent sell-through of all lots offered.
Held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, the Jan. 12-14 event enjoyed strong attendance, as thousands of enthusiasts flocked to see a broad selection of 490 motorcycles and a range of bike-related memorabilia. Bidders represented 35 states and 10 countries from as far away as Germany, the United Arab Emirates and Australia, with on-site buyers joined by a number of internet and phone bidders.
The top seller of the weekend was a beautifully restored 1910 Flying Merkel, resplendent in the company’s bright orange coloring that garnered $86,800. A high-quality 1926 Cleveland Fowler fetched $76,160.
In addition, the sale also featured Criss Angel’s BeLIEve/MINDFREAK custom chopper selling for $19,040 as the magician watched from the podium. All proceeds from Angel’s “Charity Chopper” sale – including auction commissions – went to his BeLIEVE Anything Is Possible foundation to help children in need.
“We are extremely pleased by the response and outcome of the sale,” said Auctions America President Donnie Gould. “It exceeded our expectations for a first-time event, and we received nothing but positive feedback from the buyers, sellers and attendees on the quality and diversity of the offering, event presentation and our dedicated client service.”
Auctions America has become an auction house of choice for collections of estate and private vehicles – a status confirmed by the appearance at the Las Vegas sale of eight private motorcycle collections. A highlight of the offering was the Christiansen Collection, featuring eight motorcycles at no reserve.
“I was very happy with the way everything was handled,” said Arlene Christiansen following the sale. “I was sorry to see my late husband’s bikes go, but Auctions America had a very nice event and took excellent care of them and me.”
Participants enjoyed an interactive educational element during the debut Las Vegas sale. The exclusive motorcycle seminar was moderated by SPEED Channel’s Dave Despain. Experts Mark Hoyer (editor, Cycle World), Buzz Walneck (founder, Walneck’s Classic Cycle Trader), Doug Mitchel (motorcycle author) and Joe Bortz (motorcycle collector) discussed several aspects of the collector motorcycle industry and took questions from the audience.

Cartel on the historic Melrose Ave. The NASH Sickle Garage will include custom motorcycle builds, repairs, service and fabrication.
"We've been looking to do something in the southern California area for years," Taber, owner of Nash Motorcycle Company said. "Through building a relationship with Nick and the Cartel, things just kind of fell into place. We also wanted to extend our reach to our customer base in the SoCal area, and my wife would like a tan."

Auctions America by RM Revs Up for Vintage Motorcycle Weekend in the City of Lights
 • Auctions America by RM’s debut Vegas auction to feature more than 450 collector motorcycles, Jan. 12-14 • Celebrity bikes from Criss Angel MINDFREAK Collection and Michael Jordan Motorsports to cross the block • A rare 1938 Harley-Davidson and 1929 Scott Squirrel once owned by actor Steve McQueen will be offered • Late 19th century and early 20th century motorcycles to steal the show during vintage motorcycle weekend
AUBURN, Indiana (Jan. 9, 2012) – Auctions America by RM plans to turn Las Vegas into the top American destination for motorcycle collectors and enthusiasts beginning with its Las Vegas Premier Motorcycle Auction at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Jan. 12-14.
The inaugural auction will include various enthusiast events as more than 450 collectible motorcycles from private, estate and celebrity collections cross the block during the multi-day sale. Historic 19th century and early 20th century two-wheelers will dominate enthusiasts’ bidding lists, including the remarkable 1894 Roper Steam Motorcycle, one of the world’s oldest motorcycles, which may set a new world record for a motorcycle sold at auction.*
The Auctions America by RM event has the potential to become the epicenter of a motorcycle week in the brightest city on earth. At the top of the featured motorcycles list is a well-documented 1899 De Dion-Bouton Three-Wheeler. Built by one of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world at the dawn of the 20th century, the three-wheeler was brought to the U.S. in the 1920s by Vincent Bendix, who was interested in studying its innovative front brake. Bendix developed the modern automobile brake from the study of this three-wheeler (estimate available upon request).
“The collection of vintage bikes on our docket represents some of the best-maintained examples we’ve ever had the privilege of offering at auction,” noted Glenn Bator, who heads Auctions America by RM’s motorcycle division. “Collectors won’t want to miss an opportunity to take one of these beautiful motorcycles home.”
The sale will lift the gavel on a historic 1902 Whitley “The Whitley of Coventry” motorcycle built by Whitley of Cow Lane, Coventry, West Midlands, England – a company that produced motorcycles from 1902 to 1905. Boasting its original paint, this motorcycle is believed to be the only one of its kind in existence today (est. $65,000 - $85,000).
A few bikes associated with legendary actor Steve McQueen will cross the block, including a liquid-cooled two-cylinder 1929 Scott Squirrel (est. $125,000 - $150,000) restored in the 1970s by custom paint guru Kenny Howard (aka “Von Dutch”). McQueen will also be represented by a 1938 Harley-Davidson WLD (est. $45,000 - $60,000) – an all-original Solo model with only 21,100 miles on the odometer that the estate sold after his death. Another vintage motorcycle set to garner serious attention from purists is a 1926 Cleveland Fowler (estimate available upon request). One of 100 motorcycles built in the 600cc four-cylinder, four-stroke engine format designed by F.E. Fowler, this Cleveland is believed to be the sole complete example remaining today. It was owned by late racer and stuntman Bud Ekins – who performed the famed motorcycle jump sequence for Steve McQueen in the film The Great Escape – and was later a part of the esteemed Otis Chandler Collection in California before going to a private collector.
Discerning collectors will appreciate the 1928 Brough Superior SS 100 (est. $275,000 - $295,000), a model owned by well-heeled motorcyclists of the day. Powered by its original 980cc, short-stroke V-twin, this ’28 SS 100 was purchased new by the Dunlop Rubber Company to commemorate the tire maker’s 40th anniversary and served as a test mule.
“Our goal is to spark an international celebration of the motorcycle hobby in Las Vegas,” said Donnie Gould, Auctions America by RM president. “Over the years, Arizona and Monterey have become the focal points for collector and classic cars with track exhibitions, rallies and auctions. We envision Las Vegas evolving along the same lines with motorcyclists enjoying the nearby tracks, taking tours of area attractions and attending auctions. By adding our sale to the motorcycle activities already in Las Vegas, we hope to kick start that new growth.”
Auctions America will kick off the sale with a dinner in the Rio pavilion on Thursday. A group of the world’s leading experts in collectible motorcycles, including two members of the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) Hall of Fame, will share its collective wisdom at an exclusive market seminar on Saturday morning of the multi-day event.
Auctions America has created a three-day event that caters to enthusiasts of all ages. Those interested in attending can purchase a full event pass for $50 or a single-day pass for $20. Children under 12 years of age receive free admission when accompanied by an adult.
For additional information and event details, visit www.auctionsamerica.com, or call toll free 877-906-2437 (or +1 260-927-9797 outside North America).
*Editor’s Note: The current world record for a motorcycle sold at auction is held by a 1915 Cyclone Board Track Racer OHC, which sold for $520,000 USD in 2008.

South Carolina Considers Mandating Motorcycle Helmets for All Riders
South Carolina State Senator Ralph Anderson (D-Greenville) is sponsoring a bill that would require all motorcyclists in the state wear protective headgear. Under current state law, only riders under the age of 21 are required to wear helmets.
All motorcycle riders in the state were required to wear helmets from 1967 to 1980. In 1980 the state changed the mandatory helmet law limiting it to only riders and passengers under the age of 21. In recent years the city of Myrtle Beach, SC tried to enact a local ordinance expanding the helmet law to all riders and passengers, however the local ordinance was over rulled by the state Supreme Court.
The new bill - S.1046 - was prefilled on December 5, 2011 and is currently residing in the Senate Committee on Transportation. The bill reads as follows... TO AMEND SECTION 56-5-3660, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE WEARING OF A HELMET BY CERTAIN PERSONS WHO OPERATE OR RIDE UPON A TWO-WHEELED MOTORIZED VEHICLE, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THIS PROVISION APPLIES TO ALL PERSONS WHO OPERATE OR RIDE UPON A TWO-WHEELED MOTORIZED VEHICLE. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina: SECTION 1. Section 56-5-3660 of the 1976 Code is amended to read: "Section 56-5-3660. It shall be unlawful for any person under the age of twenty-one to operate or ride upon a two-wheeled motorized vehicle unless he wears a protective helmet of a type approved by the Department of Public Safety. Such a helmet must be equipped with either a neck or chin strap and be reflectorized on both sides thereof. The department is hereby authorized to adopt and amend regulations covering the types of helmets and the specifications therefore and to establish and maintain a list of approved helmets which meet the specifications as established hereunder." SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor. ----XX----
For more onformation on what you can do to ensure wearing a helmet reamins a choice in South Carolina, visit the ABATE of South Carolina website. Update Jan 12, 2012: Just saw this story posted today... Gov. Nikki Haley has the support of Upstate senators and motorcycle rights advocates who say it’s not the government’s responsibility to police personal safety by tightening the state’s motorcycle helmet law. Haley has promised to veto a bill by Sen. Ralph Anderson, a Democrat from Greenville, that would require all motorcyclists to wear helmets, regardless of age. The current law requires that only riders younger than 21 wear helmets. The bill was read in Senate for the first time Tuesday and has been referred to the transportation committee. In 1967 an all-inclusive law was passed, but it was loosened in 1980 and has remained unchanged since then. Read the complete story here... http://www.independentmail.com

Well if things weren’t bad enough for Big Bear Choppers' owners - Keven & Mona Alsop - they may be getting even worse. The company who apparently shut their doors back in November 2011and is filling for bankruptcy, may now also be facing criminal charges including fraud.
According to a recent report from the local newspaper, The Big Bear Grizzly...
Detective Lonnie Siebert of the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station says the department is consulting with the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s office regarding the case. Criminal charges against the Alsops may be possible, Siebert says.
Chris Lee of the District Attorney’s office says the special prosecutors are aware of the situation involving Big Bear Choppers, but his office is not investigating at this time. The District Attorney’s office has been contacted by several of the potential victims, Lee said. The case remains with the Sheriff’s Department, but could be investigated by his office at some point, Lee says.
Lee encourages any possible victims to file a report with the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station as a first step. He says he understands the frustration potential victims are feeling, but the report is the first step.
Potential victums include people from throughout the US and around the world including depolyed US military personel expecting to come home and ride their new Big Bear Chopper.
Anyone who paid money for a Big Bear Chopper either directly to the BBC factory in Big Bear or through a dealer is encouraged to file a report with the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station.

A new law in Illinois that will allow motorcyclists to run red lights takes effect Jan 1, 2012.
The law is a response to complaints that some road censors that change stop lights don't detect the presence of motorcycles because their lighter weight.
The new law says if a red light hasn't changed after quote a "reasonable length of time" a motorcyclist can run that light. However one important item in the new motorcycle red light law is that it only applies to cities with less than 2,000,000 people. If my research is correct only one city in Illinois has over 2,000,000 people, and that is Chicago with 2,695,598
Here is the exact wording on the two changes made to the code...
(c-6) A county, or a municipality with less than 2,000,000 inhabitants, including a home rule county or municipality, may not use an automated traffic law enforcement system to issue violations in instances where a motorcyclist enters an intersection against a red signal indication when the red signal fails to change to a green signal within a reasonable period of time because of a signal malfunction or because the signal has failed to detect the arrival of the motorcycle due to the motorcycle's size or weight.
3.5. In municipalities with less than 2,000,000 inhabitants, after stopping as required by paragraph 1 or 2 of this subsection, the driver of a motorcycle or bicycle, facing a steady red signal which fails to change to a green signal within a reasonable period of time because of a signal malfunction or because the signal has failed to detect the arrival of the motorcycle or bicycle due to the vehicle's size or weight, shall have the right to proceed, after yielding the right of way to oncoming traffic facing a green signal, subject to the rules applicable after making a stop at a stop sign as required by Section 11-1204 of this Code.
The complete code can be viewed here... http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/publicacts/fulltext.asp?Name=097-0627

J.D. Power and Associates Reports: The Sales Experience, Product and Cost of Ownership Help Drive Improvement in Overall Motorcycle Customer Satisfaction
Owners Spending More on New Motorcycles, Including Parts and Accessories
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., Dec. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Overall motorcycle customer satisfaction has increased notably from 2010, driven by marked improvements in the sales experience, the products, and cost of ownership, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2011 U.S. Motorcycle Competitive Information Study(SM) released today.
The study, now in its 14th year, measures owner satisfaction with new motorcycles in six major factors of the overall ownership experience: product; build quality; cost of ownership; sales; service; and warranty.
Among the factors, satisfaction with the sales experience has improved most, increasing to 856 (on a 1,000-point scale) in 2011 from 838 in 2010. Satisfaction with the product and cost of ownership also improves significantly, compared with 2010.
The study also finds that motorcycle build quality improves to 122 problems per 100 motorcycles (PP100) from an average of 133 PP100 in 2010. One-half of owners say they have experienced zero problems with their new motorcycle, and among these owners, satisfaction with build quality averages 963. However, among owners who say they experienced two problems with their motorcycle, satisfaction with build quality declines considerably to an average 871.
Among the five problem categories examined in the study, problems with engines account for the greatest proportion of problems experienced (27%), although the incidence of engine-related problems has improved slightly in 2011—a decline of 5 PP100 from 2010. Problems with excessive heat from engine, unusual engine noises, and excessive engine vibration account for 51 percent of all engine-related problems reported.
Issues with fit/finish comprise the second-largest proportion of problems, followed by problems with braking/ride.
"The increase in overall satisfaction and the improvements in five of the six factors are very positive news for the industry, which is still trying to fully recover from the blow the economy has delivered in recent years," said Brent Gruber, senior manager of the powersports and commercial vehicle practice at J.D. Power and Associates. "Improving the quality of motorcycles, as well as the sales and service experience, certainly positions the manufacturers and their dealerships well for market recovery."
According to Gruber, motorcycle owners are already showing signs that they are willing to spend again. Customers spent considerably more for their motorcycle in 2011, compared with 2010. The average owner-reported price paid in 2011 is $16,125, nearly $2,000 higher than in 2010. On average, owners spend an additional $1,340 on parts and accessories and $439 on riding gear—also considerably more than in 2010.
"As satisfaction increases, so does owner loyalty and advocacy," said Gruber. "Manufacturers that focus on delivering high quality and superior service now will experience a long-term positive financial impact from their efforts."
The study finds that as satisfaction increases, the likelihood that an owner will repurchase their motorcycle brand and recommend their brand to others also increases. Among owners with high levels of satisfaction (scores averaging 900 or higher), 97 percent say they are willing to recommend their motorcycle brand to others and 81 percent indicate intent to repurchase the same brand for their next motorcycle. In contrast, among owners who are less satisfied (scores averaging 700 or less), only 43 percent say they are willing to recommend their brand to others and 31 percent indicate repurchase intent.
The 2011 U.S. Motorcycle Competitive Information Study is based on responses from 8,123 owners who purchased their new motorcycle between September 2010 and May 2011. The study was fielded between September and October 2011.

126,000 Honda Goldwing Motorcycles Recalled for Brake Problems
Honda and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have issued a recall of approximately 126,000 Honda Goldwing motorcycles because of problems with secondary brake master cylinders that may cause the rear brakes to drag, increasing the risk of a collision. Riding a motorcycle with a stuck rear brake may also generate enough heat to cause a fire.
In January, the company expects to being notifying affected Goldwing owners to bring their motorcycles to Honda dealers where the bike will be inspected and, if necessary, the secondary master cylinder will be replaced free of charge.
For more information on the recall, which Honda has identified as S03, consumers can call Honda customer service (toll-free: 866-784-1870) or visit the NHTSA website: www.SaferCar.gov.
GL1800 Brake Recall - Press Release from Honda...
Torrance, CA: American Honda Motor Co., Inc. has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that a potential defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in the secondary master cylinder on certain 2001-2010 and 2012 model year GL1800 motorcycles.
Situation: The compensating port hole inside the secondary master cylinder (part of the combined-braking system) can become blocked due to (1) stacking of tolerances in manufacturing and (2) sufficient swelling of the primary pressure cup inside the master cylinder. If the compensating port hole becomes completely blocked, the rear wheel brake caliper can drag after the rider releases the brake input. If this occurs, the rear brake temperature and pressure progressively increase. Unexpected braking increases the risk of a crash and continued riding with the brake engaged can generate enough heat to cause the rear brake to catch fire.
Inspection and Repair: Honda motorcycle dealers will inspect the secondary master cylinder of all affected motorcycles in dealership stock or sold to customers (consumers and commercial entities). If an inspection indicates that the compensator port hole can become blocked due to this problem, the dealer will replace the secondary master cylinder. Registered owners of affected motorcycles will be contacted by mail and asked to take their motorcycle to a Honda dealer. The dealer will inspect the motorcycle, and if necessary, replace the secondary master cylinder, free of charge.
Additional Details: Honda motorcycle dealers will immediately receive a transmittal of complete repair instructions. Replacement secondary master cylinders in the U.S. will initially be made available through American Honda’s dealer technical support hotline. Upon approval by NHTSA, American Honda will mail a letter to all registered owners, and also post a copy of the letter on the Honda Brand website: powersports.honda.com. Target dates for website posting are before the end of December 2011, and mail receipt by registered customers should occur before the end of January 2012.
Honda apologizes for any inconvenience this creates, but feels the safety of our customers is the highest priority. Honda encourages every customer to contact their dealer to schedule an appointment upon receiving the SAFETY RECALL letter.

Hey Canada! Feel free to continue sending Molson Beer and Seagrams products... but you can keep this one to yourselves!
According to a report in the Calgary Herald the Calgary Police are testing a new sound activated traffic camera that can photograph and ticket loud vehicles automatically. The device is called "Noise Snare" and sells for just over $100,000... The Calgary Police Dept received theirs at no charge to perform initial real-world test for the company.
After months of real world testing along with test performed by a reputable local acoustic engineer, the results will now go to committee for review on and will have to be approved by council. If approved the city will most likely enforce a $200 fine for vehicles sited by the instrument. The city does plan to offer free testing for vehicle owners who may be concerned that their vehicles are too loud.
The company who manufactures the "Noise Snare" (Street Noise Reduction Systems Ltd. of Edmonton, AB, Canada) hopes to widely sell this device across North America.

Rumors are in the air that Big Bear Choppers has shut down their operations. The company based in Big Bear Lake California and run by hasband and wife team Kevin and Mona Aslop is one of the few small manufacturers of custom motorcycles still operating in the US. Similar rumors regarding the closing of Big Bear Choppers have been heard throughout the motorcycle community over the past year or so, but owners Kevin and Mona have always stated that they were just re-tinking their operations and assured customers and fans they were here to stay.
However local newspaper the Big Bear Grizzly reports that there seems to be no sign of life at the Big Bear Choppers headquarters. I have personally tried several times to contact Big Bear Choppers and the phone just rings... no answer, no voice mail... nothing.
From the Big Bear Grizzly...
The sign is still on the building, the trucks in the parking lot and at least one custom motorcycle remains inside the Big Bear Choppers building on Fox Farm Road in Big Bear Lake. But there is no sign of life at the once-bustling custom motorcycle manufacturing business. Is Big Bear Choppers defunct? Are the owners, Kevin and Mona Alsop, on the verge of foreclosure and/or bankruptcy? Has the operation been moved to Perris, Calif., or is that facility also closed? Will the customers who paid for custom bikes up front ever see their purchases? Read the complete Big Bear Grizzly story here...

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Dec. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Confederate Motors, Inc. (OTCBB:CFED), makers of handcrafted heirloom motorcycles, unveiled their anticipated third generation Hellcat today. Drawing on the first and second generations' distinctive drag race architecture, the company's new X132 Hellcat advances that architecture with innovative engineering and avant-garde design. The result is yet another iconic machine that challenges the paradigms of the American motoring landscape.
The company's founder and CEO, H. Matthew Chambers, described the new Hellcat by saying, "This is the motorcycle we were conceived to execute when I founded the company 21 years ago. I have every confidence that we have delivered all we ever dreamed of giving."
Named after the legendary F6F Hellcat fighter plane of WWII, the X132 Hellcat is the result of an uncompromised design and manufacturing approach. The centerpiece of this approach is the Hellcat's billet aluminum case. Instead of the usual casting method, the Hellcat's case is machined from two blocks of billet 6061 aircraft grade aluminum. Chambers said, "This new case unites America's best Vtwin technology and America's superior powertrain technology into a singularity. Although this is the most expensive material selection and craft methodology, it is simply the best approach for maximizing strength and guaranteeing permanence." Confederate's lead designer, Edward Jacobs, said, "We've always dreamed of designing the core of the machine. For the first time in our 21 year history, we've been able to do that with the unitized case of this new Hellcat. The result is the first pure and undiluted Confederate." The company's uncompromised approach does not end with the case. "Because we design and craft each Confederate motorcycle to be a multi-generational heirloom product, we require that each component, from the carbon fiber wheels to the smallest stainless steel bolts, be of the highest quality, no matter the cost. Our clients deserve nothing less," said Clay Morrison, the company's Director of Marketing.
With over 40 units already pre-sold, the company is set to begin production in January at a rate of two units per week. Pricing for the X132 Hellcat is set at $45,000 through February 29, 2012. The price will rise to $49,500 on March 1, 2012. Orders may be placed online at www.workandcycle.com.
For the past the 21 years, Confederate Motors, Inc. has designed and crafted uncompromised heirloom motorcycles for the motoring purist. For more information, please visit www.confederate.com.

Triumph introduces three new motorcycles for 2012
Fresh from recording record sales in 2011, Triumph Motorcycles will celebrate its 110th anniversary in 2012 with its strongest ever line-up, boosted by three new models which were officially unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan, on November 8.
Triumph Tiger Explorer
Brand new for 2012 is the Tiger Explorer, a flagship model for Triumph’s Adventure range.
Following on from 2011’s phenomenally successful Tiger 800 models, which have become Europe’s best selling sub-800cc adventure tourers, the Tiger Explorer is powered by an all-new, shaft-driven, three-cylinder engine in excess of 1200cc, delivering class leading performance to the adventure touring class.
Featuring a high-specification as standard, the Tiger Explorer debuts Triumph’s new ‘ride-by-wire’ throttle system and includes cruise control, switchable ABS and traction control as standard. The high specification continues in the chassis department with a strong steel chassis and cast alloy wheels, 19” front and 17” rear, the latter showcased thanks to the stylish single-sided swingarm.
A suite of bespoke accessories have also been developed for the Tiger Explorer’s launch with hard and soft luggage, low and high seat options and a wide range of heated and electrical accessories which can be run simultaneously thanks to the Tiger Explorer’s best-in-class 950w generator.
Triumph Speed Triple R
Following the success of the uprated versions of the Street Triple and Daytona 675, Triumph is introducing a premium version of its iconic Speed Triple, the Speed Triple R.
Working in close collaboration with Swedish suspension brand Öhlins, the Speed Triple R sports the latest specification NIX30 43mm forks at the front, with a jewel like TTX36 unit at the rear. To minimise unsprung weight as much as possible, the lightweight five-spoke forged aluminium wheels from PVM are over 1.7kg lighter than those on the standard machine, delivering even more precise and agile handling. Stopping the Speed Triple R are top specification four-piston radial monoblock calipers from Brembo, the leading brand in MotoGP racing, with a switchable version of Triumph’s electronic anti-lock system available as an option. Together, the brakes and wheels offer a 5% increase in braking performance over the standard Speed Triple.
The Speed Triple R’s choice of metallic Phantom Black and Crystal White colour options are complemented with red coloured subframe and detailing, as well as the iconic gold forks, to create a sportier and more exotic look that confirm its status as Triumph’s premier naked sports model.
Triumph Steve McQueen™ Edition
Triumph has joined forces with the estate of Hollywood icon Steve McQueen to create a limited edition motorcycle that pays tribute to the late actor’s love of the British brand’s products.
Based on the classic Bonneville T100, just 1,100 of the Steve McQueenTM Edition will be sold worldwide. Featuring a host of modified parts, the design is inspired by the Triumph Trophy TR6 that McQueen insisted on riding during the famous stunt scene in The Great Escape, and features a military-style Matt Khaki Green livery, stencil-style Triumph decal on the tank and the actor’s signature on the side covers.
Featuring a solo seat and black luggage rack, the McQueen bike has also been fitted with a rugged skid plate and small black-bodied headlamp. The Triumph Steve McQueenTM Edition features a host of other blacked out components, including wheel rims and hubs, handlebars, rear springs, mirrors and front mudguard supports. To confirm the bike’s provenance, each machine is individually numbered with a plaque placed on the handlebar clamp, while owners will also receive a certificate of authenticity with their machine.

It was 4 years ago today that the worlds most popular daredevil Evel Kenievel died. Here is a article from the news that day... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- November 30, 2007 - Evel Knievel, the red-white-and-blue-spangled motorcycle daredevil whose jumps over crazy obstacles including Greyhound buses, live sharks and Idaho's Snake River Canyon made him an international icon in the 1970s, died Friday. He was 69.
Knievel's death was confirmed by his granddaughter, Krysten Knievel. He had been in failing health for years, suffering from diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis, an incurable condition that scarred his lungs.
Knievel had undergone a liver transplant in 1999 after nearly dying of hepatitis C, likely contracted through a blood transfusion after one of his bone-shattering spills. He also suffered two strokes in recent years.
Longtime friend and promoter Billy Rundle said Knievel had trouble breathing at his Clearwater condominium and died before an ambulance could get him to a hospital.
"It's been coming for years, but you just don't expect it. Superman just doesn't die, right?" Rundle said.
Immortalized in the Washington's Smithsonian Institution as "America's Legendary Daredevil," Knievel was best known for a failed 1974 attempt to jump Snake River Canyon on a rocket-powered cycle and a spectacular crash at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. He suffered nearly 40 broken bones before he retired in 1980.
"I think he lived 20 years longer than most people would have" after so many injuries, said his son Kelly Knievel, 47. "I think he willed himself into an extra five or six years."
Though Knievel dropped off the pop culture radar in the '80s, the image of the high-flying motorcyclist clad in patriotic, star-studded colors was never erased from public consciousness. He always had fans and enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in recent years.
His death came just two days after it was announced that he and rapper Kanye West had settled a federal lawsuit over the use of Knievel's trademarked image in a popular West music video.
Knievel made a good living selling his autographs and endorsing products. Thousands came to Butte, Mont., every year as his legend was celebrated during the "Evel Knievel Days" festival, which Rundle organizes.
"They started out watching me bust my ass, and I became part of their lives," Knievel said. "People wanted to associate with a winner, not a loser. They wanted to associate with someone who kept trying to be a winner."
For the tall, thin daredevil, the limelight was always comfortable, the gab glib. To Knievel, there always were mountains to climb, feats to conquer.
"No king or prince has lived a better life," he said in a May 2006 interview with The Associated Press. "You're looking at a guy who's really done it all. And there are things I wish I had done better, not only for me but for the ones I loved."
He had a knack for outrageous yarns: "Made $60 million, spent 61. ...Lost $250,000 at blackjack once. ... Had $3 million in the bank, though."
He began his daredevil career in 1965 when he formed a troupe called Evel Knievel's Motorcycle Daredevils, a touring show in which he performed stunts such as riding through fire walls, jumping over live rattlesnakes and mountain lions and being towed at 200 mph behind dragster race cars.
In 1966 he began touring alone, barnstorming the West and doing everything from driving the trucks, erecting the ramps and promoting the shows. In the beginning he charged $500 for a jump over two cars parked between ramps.
He steadily increased the length of the jumps until, on New Year's Day 1968, he was nearly killed when he jumped 151 feet across the fountains in front of Caesar's Palace. He cleared the fountains but the crash landing put him in the hospital in a coma for a month.
His son, Robbie, successfully completed the same jump in April 1989.
In the years after the Caesar's crash, the fee for Evel's performances increased to $1 million for his jump over 13 buses at Wembley Stadium in London — the crash landing broke his pelvis — to more than $6 million for the Sept. 8, 1974, attempt to clear the Snake River Canyon in Idaho in a rocket-powered "Skycycle." The money came from ticket sales, paid sponsors and ABC's "Wide World of Sports."
The parachute malfunctioned and deployed after takeoff. Strong winds blew the cycle into the canyon, landing him close to the swirling river below.
On Oct. 25, 1975, he jumped 14 Greyhound buses at Kings Island in Ohio.
Knievel decided to retire after a jump in the winter of 1976 in which he was again seriously injured. He suffered a concussion and broke both arms in an attempt to jump a tank full of live sharks in the Chicago Amphitheater. He continued to do smaller exhibitions around the country with his son, Robbie.
Many of his records have been broken by daredevil motorcyclist Bubba Blackwell.
Knievel also dabbled in movies and TV, starring as himself in "Viva Knievel" and with Lindsay Wagner in an episode of the 1980s TV series "Bionic Woman." George Hamilton and Sam Elliott each played Knievel in movies about his life.
Evel Knievel toys accounted for more than $300 million in sales for Ideal and other companies in the 1970s and '80s.
Born Robert Craig Knievel in the copper mining town of Butte on Oct. 17, 1938, Knievel was raised by his grandparents. He traced his career choice back to the time he saw Joey Chitwood's Auto Daredevil Show at age 8.
"The phrase one-of-a-kind is often used, but it probably applies best to Bobby Knievel," said former U.S. Rep. Pat Williams, D-Mont., Knievel's cousin. "He was an amazing athlete... He was sharp as a tack, one of the smartest people I've ever known and finally, as the world knows, no one had more guts than Bobby. He was simply unafraid of anything."
Outstanding in track and field, ski jumping and ice hockey at Butte High School, Knievel went on to win the Northern Rocky Mountain Ski Association Class A Men's ski jumping championship in 1957 and played with the Charlotte Clippers of the Eastern Hockey League in 1959.
He also formed the Butte Bombers semiprofessional hockey team, acting as owner, manager, coach and player.
Knievel also worked in the Montana copper mines, served in the Army, ran his own hunting guide service, sold insurance and ran Honda motorcycle dealerships. As a motorcycle dealer, he drummed up business by offering $100 off the price of a motorcycle to customers who could beat him at arm wrestling.
At various times and in different interviews, Knievel claimed to have been a swindler, a card thief, a safe cracker, a holdup man.
Evel Knievel married hometown girlfriend, Linda Joan Bork, in 1959. They separated in the early 1990s. They had four children, Kelly, Robbie, Tracey and Alicia.
Robbie Knievel followed in his father's footsteps as a daredevil, jumping a moving locomotive in a 200-foot, ramp-to-ramp motorcycle stunt on live television in 2000. He also jumped a 200-foot-wide chasm of the Grand Canyon.
Knievel lived with his longtime partner, Krystal Kennedy-Knievel, splitting his time between their Clearwater condo and Butte. They married in 1999 and divorced a few years later but remained together. Knievel had 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Zero Motorcycles Delivers 2012 Model Line With Over 100 Miles Range, More Power And New “Life Of Motorcycle” Power Pack – Game-Changing New Motorcycles to Begin Shipping in February 2012 –
SANTA CRUZ, CA, (Nov. 8, 2011) – Zero Motorcycles, today announced its 2012 model line that includes a revolutionary new powertrain, models capable of exceeding 100 miles range, a power pack designed to last the life of the motorcycle and top speeds of up to 88 mph. Stealthy looking and contemporary, every model has been transformed to be faster, go further and, in the spirit of all two wheeled enthusiasts, to be more fun than ever before. Innovating at an exceptional pace, Zero Motorcycles plans to begin delivery of its complete 2012 model line in February 2012. This will mark the first time in transportation history that a mass production electric motorcycle capable of exceeding 100 miles range will be available for consumers to own.
Zero’s new Z-Force™ power pack uses a completely new battery cell chemistry and configuration that is up to 95% more energy dense and is rated to 3,000 complete charge cycles before hitting 80% capacity. This means that a Zero S could travel as much as 308,000 miles on its original power pack. All Zero’s on and off-road motorcycles leverage the new technology meaning that the power pack is designed to exceed the longevity expected of any conventional motorcycle. The result is a complete electric motorcycle line that offers owners exhilarating rides while saving on gas and virtually all routine powertrain maintenance.
“The 2012 model line is truly game changing. It marks the first time in history that riders can actually own an electric motorcycle that is capable of exceeding 100 miles of range on a single charge,” said Scot Harden, VP of Global Marketing of Zero Motorcycles. “Every model in the lineup goes faster, further and is more fun than ever before. These are not concepts. In less than three months, riders can see and purchase 2012 models at authorized Zero Motorcycles dealers.”
The Zero S, a street fighter, and Zero DS, a dual sport, are both available in a 6 or 9 kWh configuration. As measured by the EPA UDDS, the Zero S is capable of respectively achieving 76 or 114 miles. Both motorcycles offer a higher top speed, with the Zero DS hitting 80 mph and the Zero S topping out at 88 mph. Perhaps more importantly, both motorcycles offer a broad torque band and stealthy acceleration from 0 rpm that makes them incredibly fun to ride. In addition, all the street models, including the Zero XU, feature new brushless motors and regenerative braking that allow riders to recoup energy during deceleration. The Zero XU, a motorcycle designed for inner city riding, now uses the same maintenance-free belt drive system as the Zero S and Zero DS. Brushless air-cooled motors, life of motorcycle power packs and belt drive systems make Zero’s lineup of street models just about the world’s easiest to own form of transportation.
If you are interested in opening up new off-road riding possibilities with a nearly silent dirt bike, Zero has two models that are better looking and faster than ever before to meet your needs. For 2012, Zero streamlined its off-road model line. The Zero X, designed for trail riding, is now exclusively available with lights and is street-legal. With 33% more overall power and 75% greater range, it now uses the same championship winning powertrain as the Zero MX. Built for motocross riding and now exclusively available for off-road only, the Zero MX also received more power and offers riders the ability to accelerate harder and hit higher top speeds. Both off-road models have a bold new design that speaks to their more aggressive and longer lasting powertrain.
Pricing information: Each Zero Motorcycles model is 100% electric and, as a result, is sometimes applicable to receive government rebates or credits. Zero sells its motorcycles through dealerships and, in states or countries without dealerships, sells motorcycles through its website. Each motorcycle comes with a two year limited warranty and will begin shipping in February. Zero and its dealers will accept pre-orders from customers who would like to secure a new 2012 electric motorcycle. The complete pricing for each model is below. Zero S
